Life Lately

Nothing to update on the home front so I am going to share a few other things that have been going on around here!

I caught one of my fellow bloggers Julie on Instagram Stories talking about a new product she tried Miracle Overnight cream from Philosophy. She had rave reviews and I've been looking for a good quality under eye cream. I decided to go ahead and purchase the under eye cream for now from Shopper's Drug Mart. I want to try the over night cream as well but both products are a little pricey so I am going to wait a month or so before I buy it.

While we are on the topic of beauty care how fun is it that Shopper's now carries Pixi Beauty! I bought the mascara which I already love and want to try the Rose Oil. They were sold out so on my next trip too town I am going to check if it's back in stock.

We finally got our dishwasher! I purchased appliances before Christmas from Best Buy but the dishwasher arrived heavily damaged. Because of the holiday's the one I picked sold out and took a while to be in stock again. Let me tell you, if you are in the market for a quiet dishwasher this one from Kitchen Aid is amazing!!! Our kitchen, dining, and living room are all open space so I needed one with minimal noise. It washes great too! I will do a full review soon on all of my appliances that I purchased from Kitchen Aid.

Question for you all....how often do you sit down with your spouse and talk life plans? Branko and I talk about life plans A LOT. In the last two weeks we have come to a big life decision that I may share in the future here.

That's it for now! I have a Beet Milk recipe I am working on that I hope to share soon and this weekend we are working on the entrance room. Hoping to have a home update for you all next week again!

Hillside Casa Diary Series Jan. 23-29

This update should have been completed by yesterday but I had no time so here it is......

I started writing this post on Tuesday the 24th and we were already behind in the work that needed to be done. All hope was not lost though because we cleaned out most of our living area which meant Branko should have put up the remaining mud and we would have been golden for Thursday.

WELL..... sadly we didn't get everything finished. Branko put on the remaining mud on Thursday and we had to wait almost all day for it to dry. We were only able to start sanding Thursday afternoon which really put us behind since we wanted to be done sanding by Thursday night.

Friday rolled around and we managed to finish sanding everything to only realize that a ton of touch ups needed to be done. This house gains sunlight ALL day long and any imperfections are sure to be seen. Since Branko is so picky he wouldn't let it go. ME on the other hand, I was that annoying wife that kept saying...just leave it. Dominik is going to ruin these walls anyways. LOL.

My mom showed up Saturday afternoon and we were still sanding and cleaning. SO MUCH CLEANING. She watched Dominik for us in the one clean room we have and we continued working.

We woke up early Sunday morning to do one last swipe at the walls and started priming around 9:45 am. I am pretty sure we took a break at 10:30 am.

AND

BREAK @ 11:45 am

BREAK @ 1 pm

BREAK @ 2:30 pm

BREAK @ 3:45 pm

WANT TO KNOW WHERE I AM GOING WITH THIS..... WE TOOK TOO MANY DAMN BREAKS.

I also drank a coffee at each one of those breaks.

SOOOOO what did we actually get done. Well we primed ALL of the walls and most of the ceiling.

There is a good chance we won't get much done this week, the new plan is to finish priming everything even a second coat by Saturday night.

As always check me out on Instagram and check back in next week to see how much more we got done!

Candid thoughts about weight loss

Well here goes nothing, I'm going to share with the online world how weight loss has been the largest struggle for me most of my adult life. Many ups and downs. Good eating, bad eating. Long weeks of consistent exercise and then many excuses as to why I can't fit in an exercise routine. I wouldn't say I am embarrassed of my weight nor am I excessively over weight. I would like to lose 25-30 lbs.

20 LBS - this number sounds so small in my head. Have you ever watched biggest loser? They lose that weight in one week! Don't worry I get that this is not reasonable.

The good news for me is I have proven I can lose weight and successfully keep it off. Last year, from Jan - July I was exercising regularly and eating well. I managed to lose a little over 15 lbs and keep most of that weight off. Then things changed, life became busier and excuses were made so that my daily work out could be cancelled.

My main plan is to get back to my 45 minute elliptical routine which has shown great results for myself. Along with that, I need to track my daily intake of food by using My Fitness Pal. I'm sure you have all heard of that wonderful app.

I suppose your next thought is what will I do to stay accountable and this is where all of you come into play! I am going to start an online community along with my good friend Thalita you can catch her post about her own weight loss struggles here to help encourage me on this journey. A private Facebook group will be created where we can chat about healthy foods we've tried, sharing your exercise routine of the day, your ups and downs, your favorite apps, product reviews (especially those expensive protein powders!) and what has worked for you in regards to your eating times of the day. Anything goes! I am going to share my thoughts on Instagram as well but I would love if you left your thoughts about this in the comments. My goal is to be back in my exercise routine by Feb.1.

NOW this big final question.....DO YOU WANT TO JOIN???

Hillside Casa Diary Series Jan. 16 - 22

I am going to start writing weekly diary updates on the work we completed for the prior week. I hope it will make me feel like stuff is getting done around here. We finished priming our master bedroom, bathroom and closet. We need to then move ALL of our stuff in that room so we can sand the living room, dining, and kitchen areas.

The truth is if we never had to hang, mud, or sand drywall again we would always be "feeling good" to work. I swear we have every excuse in the book to not get this job completed.

Even though it doesn't sound like much the task of priming 2500 sq ft is more daunting then we thought it would have been. Some weekly updates might be long and filled with photos but as you know priming is not exactly the most exciting, so this week this is all you get.

Standing in our master bedroom looking into the closet and bathroom.

This week's plan is to finish the last coat of primer in the closet and get the mud in the living room, dining, and kitchen done. That leaves us with Thursday and Friday to sand all of those areas. Saturday and Sunday we will prime. Stay tuned for next week's update to actually see if we finish all of that!

If you are really nosy you can follow me on Instagram where I will be posting some insta stories and live updates of our progress.
