One of the things I wanted to ensure when moving to the country was supporting the local towns. I grew up in a fairly small town and my parents have had a family run restaurant for almost 30 years. This made me really appreciate how important it is to try and shop local.
Creemore, ON - If you are every in Creemore you should make a stop Millers Dairy! I've recently started buying their milk that comes in glass bottles. The price is fairly close to the card board box milk. While in Creemore you can stop by Creemore Kitchen, they serve up a delicious menu including lunch, dinner, and brunch on the weekends. If you follow their Instagram feed every Saturday they show case a new donut! Creemore has a farmer's market that is open Saturday from 8:30 am to 1 pm.
Alliston, ON - Branko loves fresh bread! Murphy's Farmer's Market is a family run business. They have fresh bread in their little store but some other great baked goods, fruits, and local vegetables! If you are looking for a quick bite to eat check out Just Judy's Chip Wagon!! You can usually find Judy herself cooking in the wagon. The service is fairly quick even though they are always so busy. Alliston has a farmer's market open Saturday from 8 am to 2 pm.
Rosemont, ON - This little town is more like a village but if you are headed to cottage country you may be passing thru it. They have the cutest little store called Rosemont General Store and Kitchen. You can grab lunch or Kawartha lakes ice cream! Rosemont also has a small farmer's market that runs on Friday until 3 pm.
Do you have any local stores that you love to visit?? Feel free to share in the comments below!
